Thomas Hancock

    Thomas completed his Bachelor of Commerce degree and his Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting at the University of Natal, in Durban, South Africa in 1990. Thereafter he served his Articles at Deloitte & Touche. With a long family history in conservation, Thomas’ business, family and personal interests have morphed and include property, hospitality, retail, philanthropy and the business of conservation.

    Tom is the founder-shareholder and Chairman of BioCarbon Partners (BCP), a forest conservation company addressing deforestation in wildlife-rich areas of southern Africa under REDD+. Over the past 15 years BCP has emerged as one of the leading REDD+ developers in the world. Tom is also the Chair of the Greater Kruger Environmental Protection Foundation NPC (GKEPF) in South Africa, partnering with government, management authorities in private, provincial and state reserves for a safe, secure and resilient Greater Kruger landscape.

    Thomas has served as Chair of the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, an area within the Greater Kruger National Park system and as a Director of the Conservation Strategy Fund.

    Rockwood Leisure is the central integrator of financial, legal and strategic matters for various family interests. Its mandate is to protect wealth, enable growth, ensure continuity and support family cohesion across generations.

    Thomas lives with his wife, Kerry in Durban, South Africa. Tom is an avid helicopter pilot, a mountain biker (now e-bikes), cook and a reluctant runner.
